Though we may cover many different topics and technologies in our Free Lunchtime Seminars, the following are what we consider our main seminars. Most of these are full day classes, with a few spanning two days for completion. Others may only be a half day in length. But we attempt to create these seminars to give the average student as much of what they need for that topic area to function in a more productive manner. Web Design
This seminar is really two complete sessions:
This seminar is really two complete sessions:
- Day 1 will introduce the student to various tools that are available to make sure his or her web site is up to standards and is as functional as possible. The student will also get a quick HTML overview, advice on page layout, and a large list of what not to do on a web page.
- Day 2 starts off with some more advanced topics such as Javasript, VB script, PHP, ASP, server side and client side coding. The students will then get a great introduction to cascading style sheets (CSS) complete with a hands on, web page creating exercise.
Database Design
Database design is a critical part in a business environment, whether it is handling day-to-day processing, accounts and memberships, contact lists, or designing a dynamic WEB site. The steps that you learn in this course can be applied to designing with any relational database, such as (MySql, Oracle, Sybase, Informix, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.). This is a full day class from 9-am to 4-pm. Lunch for all students is included with the cost.

HTML
This seminar will cover the basics of HTML, and is actually broken into two short classes: HTML Fundamentals-1 and HTML Fundamentals-2. The student will learn how to create simple web pages using a variety of HTML tags. Because of the popularity of, and ease of obtaining, web page creation software, knowledge of HTML is fast becoming a thing of the past. However, it often becomes necessary for any web page creator to manipulate the code. This is where knowing HTML can save a lot of grief. These are half day classes. Either 9-am to noon or from 1-pm to 4-pm.

This course is for those individuals either new to the Microsoft Windows Operating System (OS), or have been using it but really do not know all of the tools, tricks, tips, shortcuts, and other options that are available. Most people only learn a few basics, there are many useful features that the everyday user never finds out about. Plus, we take a quick peek into the actual computer hardware to explain some basics.
This course is for those individuals either new to the Microsoft Windows Operating System (OS), or have been using it but really do not know all of the tools, tricks, tips, shortcuts, and other options that are available. Most people only learn a few basics, there are many useful features that the everyday user never finds out about. Plus, we take a quick peek into the actual computer hardware to explain some basics.

SQL is a database computer language designed for managing data in relational database management systems (RDBMS), and originally based upon Relational Algebra. Its scope includes data query/update, schema creation/modification, and data access control. SQL has become the most widely used language for relational databases.

This is a very large category, and comprises several areas. Some of these seminars cover groups of types, and others are more specific to a single type. For example Microsoft has created four independent, yet highly integrated components that make up a well-rounded set of scripting technologies. These include the Windows Scripting Host (WSH), Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript), Windows Management Interface (WMI), and Active Directory Scripting Interface (ADSI). We also offer JavaScript, PHP and Perl scripting languages, just to name only a few which are available. Each seminar is a full day class from 9-am to 4-pm. Lunch for all students is included with the cost.

This seminar covers the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), which is an Open Source versatile graphics editor and design package. With this software, such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring are easily accomplished, and at a similar level of capabilities as Adobe's Photoshop. This is a full day class from 9-am to 4-pm. Lunch for all students is included with the cost.

This is an introductory seminar to the various applications comprising the Open Source equivalent of Microsoft Office suite. This class is mainly geared to those individuals already familiar with the MS-Office products whom are wanting the basics of how to get around with a new suite of tools. Since this class covers each application, it is difficult to be completely detail oriented as with the separate MS-Office seminars we offer. This is a full day class from 9-am to 4-pm. Lunch for all students is included with the cost.
